Welcome to the La Jolla Youth Baseball website. Since 1952, the purpose of our organization has been to help young people in our community learn to play and enjoy the game of baseball. We are hopeful that sharing in the baseball team experience and navigating the inevitable ups and downs of a season will help them mature into better adults.
La Jolla Youth Baseball would not be the success that it is without the tireless efforts of numerous parent volunteers who donate countless hours of their time to our league. Be it a Board member, League President, Manager, Coach or Team Parent, I’m proud that we have so many fantastic people in our organization willing to give up so much of their free time. I would like to encourage anyone and everyone with some spare time to get involved. You will make a difference!
In addition to the numerous families who have donated their time to LJYB over the years, we have also been extremely fortunate to be the beneficiary of significant financial contributions from individuals, as well as from corporate and institutional donors. If you or someone you know would like to be a LJYB sponsor or make a donation, please view the Donate to LJYB page or Sponsors page. Your continued generosity is vital for the maintenance of our fields and operation of our leagues.
As we embark on another exciting season in 2015, it's worth noting that everything we strive to accomplish is ultimately for the benefit of the kids out on the field. Some games are more competitive than others, and sometimes it's too easy to get focused on the outcome of the game rather than the individual accomplishments of the kids who are playing it.
Pony Baseball is a complicated game to learn and it takes time and effort to develop the skills and knowledge required to play it. As parents we can help our kids most by practicing with and teaching them the game of baseball, cheering them on for their efforts and encouraging them to do their very best.
When thinking about the upcoming 2015 season, the one constant I keep reflecting on is an article I read before the start of last season. It spoke to the best way to complement your player after a game, practice, etc… The article simply suggested telling your child that you love watching him play. It’s so simple, yet profound on so many levels.
The reason I, and I think I speak for all of our great volunteers, have chosen to give so much of my time to this great organization is that I simply love to watch my son play the game of baseball. Win or lose. Good game or otherwise. They joy he gets from playing this great game with his friends is astounding.
Thanks very much for your continued support of La Jolla Youth Baseball. We look forward to seeing you out at the fields in 2015.
